KUANTAN, June 24 (Bernama) — Two employers were each fined RM1,500 by the Magistrate’s Court here Wednesday for failing to abide by the minimum salary requirement.
Magistrate Tuan Ruzuaini Tuan Lah handed down the sentence on Goober Go Enterprise and Man Kiong Trading Sdn Bhd, after their director, Goh Tien Hock and Pang Siew Lian, respectively, pleaded guilty to the offence.
Goober Go Enterprise was charged with failing to pay RM900 in basic salary to one of its workers for the month of May.
The offence was committed at 12.30 pm at Lot 83141, Jalan Sungai Lembing, Kuantan, last May 29.
As for Man Kiong Trading, the company was charged with failing to pay the basic salary of RM34.62 per day for four months, between January and April 2014, to an employee.
The offence was committed at the company’s premise at Batu 8 1/2, Tanjung Pasir, Sungai Lembing last May 27.
They paid the fine.
The prosecution was conducted by Pahang Manpower Department prosecuting officers Yuszatunaim Yusof and Ahmad Saad.
