Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
EMPLOYERS allowed to operate under the movement-control order are not following guidelines from the Health Ministry to ensure employee safety, said Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC).
Workers are still being huddled together in company transport, free to mingle in cafeterias and other areas at workplaces, and workstations are not realigned to implement safe-distancing guidelines, MTUC secretary-general J. Solomon said in a statement today.
