PUTRAJAYA: The Putrajaya Immigration Department nabbed more than 200 illegal foreigners at the IOI City Mall in an operation today.
In the three-hour operation, 150 food premises and about 500 foreigners were inspected.
Deputy Home Minister Masir Kujat said the illegal foreigners comprised Bangladeshis, Indonesians, Myanmar nationals and others.
“We received information that many food operators here employ foreigners.
“Some were arrested for various offences including not having identification documents, overstaying and misusing their travel documents.
“Those detained will be placed at Bukit Jalil immigration detention depot for investigation and follow up action.” he said.
Masir said 120 Immigration officers were involved in the operation.
He said the Immigration department will continuously conduct nationwide operations to identify, detain and deport illegal foreigners.
