“She is in stable condition,” he said, when contacted yesterday.
Suyanti’s employer – a 43-year-old woman, who was detained earlier – has been released on police bail, added Supt Mohd Ali.
“We submitted the investigation papers to the DPP on Friday. We are still waiting for the DPP’s decision on how best to proceed,” he said.
It was reported that a security guard found an unconscious Suyanti by a drain in Mutiara Damansara and her plight went viral on social media last Wednesday.
Her employer surrendered to the police at about 10.30pm the same day and was subsequently remanded until today.
The maid claimed that she had been working for her employer for two weeks and was assaulted every day while being called an animal.
Suyanti, from Medan, also claimed that she was not allowed to bathe and was only permitted to eat once a day.
Last Wednesday, she climbed a ladder near a fence of the house and jumped over and ran as fast as she could until she collapsed from exhaustion.
Indonesian Ambassador to Malaysia Herman Prayitno hoped that employers and employees could understand each other and work together as stipulated in their contracts.
“Employers shouldn’t mistreat their workers.
“I hope that the perpetrator will be brought to justice and face the consequences of her actions,” he said.
