IPOH, Feb 18 (Bernama) — The Congress of Union on Employees in the Public and Civil Services (CUEPACS) today held discussions with the Perak state government on employee benefits in the privatisation of solid waste management by local authorities.
Its president Azih Muda said Perak Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir pledged to look into all matters raised to ensure the well-being of civil servants in the state was not affected by the exercise.
“Cuepacs is currently on a tour to all states to check on the welfare of civil servants on the ground which would be reported to the Prime Minister,” he told reporters after the meeting here today.
On the privatisation of solid waste management by local authorities in Perak, he urged the state government to postpone the matter as the people were already burdened with higher cost of living now.
He said Cuepacs would be meeting the Prime Minister on the matter to give a clearer picture on weaknesses of solid waste management privatisation.
Meanwhile, Dr Zambry said the visit by Cuepacs today was to strengthen ties between the union and the state government to facilitate both sides to find the best approach to resolve issues on the welfare of civil servants.
