KUALA LUMPUR: An explosion from a hot water boiler caused extensive damage at a condominium at Jalan Bukit Kiara in Mont Kiara here today.
No one was injured in the incident that occurred at the 11th floor of the condominium.
Fire and rescue department sources said firefighters from the Sri Hartamas and Hang Tuah stations arrived at the scene 10 minutes after receiving the distress call that came shortly after 9am today.
“The explosion of the water boiler in the bathroom caused huge damage to the walls of the condominium unit,” said the source.
“Our first course of action was to bring the tenants to safety,” added the source.
“We also shut off the main switchboard to cut off power supply and the valve connecting to the gas pipe,” he said.
Operations ceased at noon and a report of the incident has been sent to the Energy Commission.
The cause of the explosion and the losses incurred as a result of the incident are still being determined.
