Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
MTUC continues the responsibility to ensure that all members of the union are well trained with additional knowledge by organizing a 3-day course from July 23, 2019 to July 25, 2019 at the MTUC Training Center, Level 7, Wisma MTUC. A total of 46 trade union participants from various sectors attended the course.
The program was inaugurated by MTUC President Dato Abdul Halim Mansor this morning. Among those attended are the MTUC Financial Secretary Bro Effendy and also the facilitator of the program as Assistant Secretary of Education Bro K Soma. The first day of the course was presented by MTUC President by presenting the topic entitled, “Industrial Relations at Work – Understanding the Way of Operation.”
The participants did not give up the opportunity to frequently ask various questions to further enhance their understanding of administrating the union.
The MTUC also invited Encik Ahmad Kamal, JPP Director, Putrajaya to present a presentation on the roles and responsibilities of the Union and also workers’ representatives.
Sis Karuna, NUBE’s deputy secretary-general and MTUC General Council Member also enhanced the knowledge of the participants by presenting the topic entitled Discplinary Action-How to Answer the Show Cause letter and was also the facilitator in the planned work of the group.
The 3-day course organised by MTUC is intended to improve the knowledge of all participants in assisting members in their respective unions better in respect to Industrial Relations and Domestic Inquiry.
The closing ceremony of the course was completed by the Secretary General, Bro J Solomon who presented certificate upon completion of the course. Prior to the closing Bro J Solomon reminder all participants to use all the knowledge they had learned during these three days to assist the members of their respective unions more effectively in order to protect the union members who are continuously being bullied at work.
Bro J Solomon also reminded that all participants and trade union leaders should contribute towards the LLR roundtable discussion.
They are privileged to be invited this Saturday at 9.30 to 5.30 pm at Wisma MTUC to participate in the deliberation and give their suggestions.
This roundtable discussion will certainly assist all participants and trade union leaders to understand the TUA 1959 better and looking forward to see them this Saturday 27 July 2019.
J Solomon also thanked Bro Soma who had done survey and identified the courses that is necessary for the trade union leaders of the affiliates of MTUC.
The present leadership of MTUC assures that it is our duty to educate as many leaders of Trade Union as possible so that they will be well equipped to serve the members who are being victimised by irresponsible management.
