WOMEN TRADE UNION LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP AND CBA ROUNDTABLE DISCUSSION
MTUC HQ with the collaboration of Solidarity Center continued to co-operate by organizing the Women Leadership Workshops and Roundtable Consultation on CBA among women’s union members in MTUC Sabah Division. The objective of the workshop was to highlight the role of women in the balance of trade union administration in Sabah. In addition, MTUC Hq would also like to get feedback or suggestions from all women participants today on the benefits of the CBA of their respective unions in promoting women.
A total of 23 female participants attended today were from different trade unions and sectors. Bro Zul Thye and Bro Rudy have been charged with facilitating and presenting at the workshop. Sis Alice Kong, the Sabah Division MTUC Treasurer, was present on behalf of the Chairman and Secretary of the MTUC Sabah Division to extend a warm welcome to all present.
The workshop began with a presentation from Bro Zul Thye on the activities organized by the MTUC Hq with the affiliates in each state. Activities from 2017 to 2019 have been presented and the role of the MTUC Hq in establishing the MTUC Service Center as well as the Migrant Resource Center in collaboration with the ILO.
Bro Rudy conducted training and group work for each participant. Participants also shared what success they had gained as a leader or union member.
At the end of this workshop, all participants presented their own presentation on the proposals that involved the role and benefits of women in their CBA on the basis of their respective sectors.
