Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
Malaysians from every walk of life, in every Malaysian state contribute to the growth and development of the nation in their own way. They have voted in politicians to serve the people, make their lives better; not miserable.
It is therefore, imperative for the politicians to address issues faced by Malaysian irrespective of the state governance, be it the ruling party or opposition.
Instead of ridiculing the state governments which tantamounts to bad mouthing the country, it would be honourable of the Federal Government to address the water woes faced by the people which they say can be easily resolved.
The Menteri Besar of Selangor who claims they have taken proactive measures to ensure Selangor has adequate treated water but the current situation is beyond their control as SPLASH is under Federal Government control.
MTUC urges both state and Federal Government to put their political differences aside and work for the betterment of the Selangor people to resolve the water woes as water is life and access to clean water is basic human rights.
MTUC urges the Federal Government to provide the basic human rights to Selangorians and serve the people’s interest first regardless of the political allegiance in the state. This would be the most noble act by the Federal Government for it has fulfilled its responsibilities.
