KANGAR, Jan 8 (Bernama) — Two Perlis Immigration Department officers claimed trial at the Kangar High Court here Thursday, to causing the death of a Bangladeshi detainee last year.
Mohd Aminuddin Mohd Yassin and Zuhairul Effendy Yasin, both 33, pleaded not guilty to killing Abu Bakar Siddique at the pantry of the department’s office, Kangar, between 10pm and 11pm on Oct 29.
The officers were charged under section 302 of the Penal Code which was read together with section 34 of the same code.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Badius Zaman Ahmad told the court that the prosecution was calling nine Bangledshis who were detained at the state immigration department as witnesses.
He requested that the trial be conducted as soon as possible as the witnesses would be deported after testifying against the accused.
Judicial Commisioner Abu Bakar Katar fixed Jan 29 and 30 for trial.
