Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?

MTUC continued its 2nd Outreach Program at Kipmall Supermarket, Melaka today. The objective of this program is to introduce the role and services of the MTUC to the general public, especially the working class, throughout Malaysia.
The program that ran from 10am until 4pm was successfully conducted by Bro Rudy, CEUPM Secretary-General, Bro Zul Thye-MTUC Project Coordinator, Bro Azli, KPPIT President, Bro Faizal Talib, AJK KPPIT and Sis Idawati, Chairwoman of EIEUSR.
We met with many local and foreign workers, explaining the role of MTUC in fighting the plight of workers in Malaysia. Explanation of the Amendment to the Labor Laws in Malaysia as well as the workers right, was made available to visitors who came to our kiosk.
We have also successfully distributed nearly 300 flyers on MTUC’s functions and responsibilities and “How to Establish Trade Unions.” In addition, we distributed flyers on the role of MTUC in assisting foreign workers in Malaysia.
We will continue this Outreach Program in Kipmall, Masai Johor on Saturday, 17-8-2019 and also at the Pasir Gudang Johor Bus Terminal on Sunday, 18-8-2019. We are grateful for the commitment shown by all involved in their willingness to sacrifice their weekend leave to ensure the outreach program is a success.
