Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
MTUC president Syed Shahir Syed Samad said MTUC could lodge a complaint with
the ILO if Abdul Rahman’s statement was considered damaging and vulgar
to the congress.

“We will hold a meeting and refer to the Parliament Hansard to see if
his statement was vulgar, damaging or un-parliamentary,” he said.

On Wednesday, Abdul Rahman told Parliament that the ministry rejected MTUC’s
request for a minimum wage of RM900 in all sectors because the request was not
possible.

He also told Parliament that MTUC had a hidden agenda that was backed by the
opposition parties.
