Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
THE Social Security Organisation’s (Socso) Covid-19 screening programme for migrant workers should not be done only by one healthcare provider as this will cause delays and raise the risk of infection as more businesses reopen, said the Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC).
MTUC secretary-general J. Solomon, in a statement today, said Putrajaya should review Socso’s decision to appoint BP Healthcare as the sole company for the purpose, so as to ensure transparency.
