Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
Its president Syed Shahir Syed Mohamud said such a move would enable the Water,
Energy and Communications Ministry and Syabas to explain why there was a need
for a tariff rise.

He said the Auditor-General’s report on any assessment on non-revenue water
conducted by Syabas should also be made public.

He said the MTUC had given the Government 30 days from yesterday to make public
the documents, failing which the union would “take the next course of action.”

“The Government wants to be transparent and open. Let’s make the
audit report public. It’s not a secret report,” he told a press conference
here yesterday.
