Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
The woman said she was hit with a hammer and a piece of wood for two years
by her employer, who is said to be a member of royalty.

She was found by the roadside in Taman Cheras Utama not far from her employer’s
house and was taken to the Cheras MCA service centre by a shelter home employee.

She is said to have fled her employer’s house last Friday.

Cheras MCA service centre director Dr Jeffrey Goh took the woman to the Pandan
Indah police station to lodge a report.

Goh then took her to a hospital in Ampang. Initial investigations showed that
she was suffering from mental trauma and had bruises all over her body.

“The employer is also believed to have been beaten her with an iron rod
and other objects,” he said.

Goh, who later sent the woman to the embassy, said she did not take any belongings
along with her and her passport was still with her employer.
