Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
PUTRAJAYA, March 7 (Bernama) — Employers, trade unions and workers can now access the MyPLWS portal for reference materials pertaining to the productivity linked wages system (PLWS).
Human Resource Minister Datuk Seri Richard Riot said the portal contained various interactive information on PLWS including the benefits derived from its implementation, methods of developing PLWS models and examples of PLWS basic models.
It also contained e-learning facilities, that is, “the productivity calculator and I-PLWS” that can be applied by employers in measuring the productivity of the organisation, he said in a statement Friday.
The portal also contained the menu on success stories of employers in implementing the PLWS as well as court decisions pertaining to PLWS disputes as a guide for employers and trade unions in selecting appropriate PLWS models, he said.
Available in two versions, namely in the Bahasa Malaysia and English language, the portal can be accessed through various devices.
As of Dec 31, 2013, 76,023 companies had implemented the PLWS with about 3.1 million workers benefiting from its implementation.
