Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
PETALING JAYA: Two bank employees have tested positive for Covid-19.
CIMB Group said its affected employee was from one of its call centres at Menara Southern Bank (MSB) in Kuala Lumpur, while Alliance Bank said its affected employee serviced the Damansara Uptown, Kota Damansara and Taman Tun Dr Ismail branches.
In a statement, CIMB Group said those in direct contact with the employee had been placed under home quarantine and the call centre had been closed for sanitisation.
It also said it had implemented several precautionary measures, including a mandatory travel declaration policy, hygiene and social distancing and situation monitoring with updates.
Alliance Bank said it had closed the three branches for sanitisation, adding that it had initiated a contact tracing exercise and notified other employees and customers who may have had close contact with the affected employee.
