Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
Zin Latt was suffered with acute fever while he was working at his employer’s
factory "Syarikat Sunlight" in Selayang on the day of his death. He
informed and requested to see a doctor to employer at 1pm, but didn’t get help
after he couldn’t to continue working for that day on October 26th.
<p>
He become intensively ill with continue vomiting that his other Burmese coworkers
were take him to nearest private clinic "Seri Indah" at evening 9:30
pm. Doctor from clinic accepted to see him and draftily checked to his illness,
and gave treatment with an injection. Then they took him back but as soon as
he arrived, died with suffered by bodily heated up and painful in the chest.
Only he cried out before his death was couldn’t to take a breathe.</p>
<p>
Other Burmese workers who took him to clinic were urgently informed his death
to the employer. Employer called to police station in that night. Then police
personnel came up and took the body to Kuala Lumpur General Hospital by helping
of above Burmese workers.</p>

<td width="73%">In the following day, Zin Latt’s brother informed to NLD (LA)
office with requesting help. The labor committee members from NLD (LA) were
followed its case and informed to UNI (Union Network International). Both
were cooperated to help out about Zin Latt’s dead. Open its case at regional
police station and also reported to police department under Ministry of
Home Affair. Responsibles were supposed Zin Latt’s dead was carelessly treatment
by the doctor.</td>

from 10 to 12 before noon on November 1st.<br>

-around 11pm: Employer come and called to police station.<br>

-At 1am; Took his dead body to Kuala Lumpur General Hospital at 1am by police
and other Burmese.<br>
-At 1pm: His brother, Ko Myint Kyaw informed to NLD (LA) office and its labor
committee members gathered<br>
information with followed to their places. NLD (LA) has contacted to UNI (Union
Network International) and<br>
working together for this case.<br>

-UNI contacted to employer. Replied no responsible for its worker’s dead.<br>
-UNI and NLD (LA) met employer after his funeral.<br>

-Reported to police station and department.<br>

-At 10 to 12 am: Prayer ceremony for dead person at a Burmese Buddhist monastery.</p>
