Bank Negara to sell palm oil commemorative coins

KUALA LUMPUR: Bank Negara will sell commemorative coins in conjunction with the 100th anniversary of the Malaysian Palm Oil starting Wednesday, 9th August.
The coins were launched at Bank Negara’s Museum and Art Gallery at Sasana Kijang here on July 27.
“These commemorative coins will be available for sale at the Museum and Art Gallery and offices in Penang, Johor Bahru, Kota Kinabalu, Kuching and Kuala Terengganu,” it said in a statement today.
Bank Negara will sell the coins through public ballot to ensure fairness in distribution to intended buyers.
The public ballot will be conducted at the sale locations beginning 11.30am.
The sale is not on a first-come-first-served basis, Bank Negara said.
The public has been advised not to begin queuing earlier than the registration time at 7am.
All registered interests received between 7am and 11am will have an equal opportunity to buy these coins through a balloting process, the central bank said.
The commemorative coins are available in silver with a face value of RM10 and Nordic brilliant uncirculated (B.U) with a face value of RM1, priced at RM230 a piece and RM10 each, respectively.
The silver coin has the mintage quantity of 700 pieces, while the nordic gold B.U coin has the mintage quantity of 13,000 pieces.
All prices are subject to the six per cent of Goods and Services Tax.
