Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
The protest began at 4.30pm yesterday when the company was about to send the
six workers by company van to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The 400 workers who gathered outside the factory turned unruly and smashed
the side window of the van.

Police arrived at 4.45pm and tried to persuade them to disperse but the workers
demanded that their colleagues be sent back here.

The Federal Reserve Unit was also called in to control the crowd. Deputy OCPD
Supt Lai Yong Heng who was at the scene said the workers later relented and
dispersed.

There was no use of force in the incident, he added.
