Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?
The Malaysian Trades Union Congress represented by Bro J Solomon, MTUC Secretary-General, Bro Rudy, SEL / KL MRC Officer, MTUC General Council Member and Bro Zul Thye, MTUC’s MRC Coordinator received a two member delegation from Human Resource Development Fund (HRDF) represented by Puan Wan Yon Shahima Binti Wan Othman JSM, Chief Development Officer and Mrs Noorliza Binti Nuruddin, Head Capital & Facilities Management Division.
The MTUC team welcomed their arrival to discuss the direction to develop and uplift the working class for the improvement of work skills in the country. The HRDF believes that one of its platforms is to work with the workers as well as the Trade Unions. In this context, the HRDF hopes to work with the MTUC, which has been a representative of workers in Malaysia.
Bro J Solomon and other MTUC representatives have provided some insights and suggestions that can help both parties and improve the skills of all employees in Malaysia.
