3rd MTUC OUTREACH PROGRAM
MTUC continues its 3rd Outreach Program today in collaboration with Solidarity Center for the purpose of meeting with the public, especially with local and migrant workers in Malaysia, to clarify the functions and role of MTUC in championing the rights of all workers throughout Malaysia.
The program that started at 10am this morning, is successfully being run by Bro Boscko, Secretary of MTUC Johor Division, Bro Salleh, EIEUSR, Bro Rudy, CEUPM General Secretary Bro Zul Thye-MTUC Project Coordinator, Bro Azli, KPPIT President, Bro Faizal Talib, AJK KPPIT, Bro Fitri, Former AIROD Union Secretary, and Bro Mohd Rozi Ismail, AJK NUBE SMJ. The program ended at 4:30 pm. Many visitors — still unaware of unions — have come to our kiosk, asking for solutions and advice on issues they face at their workplace. We took the opportunity to explain how trade unions are established, the benefits of being a member of a trade union, and workers rights to them.
In addition, we had the opportunity to explain amendments that have been made to the Malaysian Labor Laws to those present at our kiosk. So far the program is being livened up by the presence of a large number of visitors at the supermarket; and together we have distributed nearly 400 flyers on MTUC’s functions and responsibilities and details on “How to Establish Trade Unions.” We have also distributed flyers on the role of MTUC in assisting foreign workers in Malaysia.
We will continue the 4th Outreach Program on Sunday 18-8-2019 at the Pasir Gudang Bus Terminal. We thank everyone who attended this 3rd outreach program.
