Malaysia is one of Asia's biggest employers of foreign labour. But recently, cases of deaths, abuse and forced labour have come to light. What is going on? Who is protecting these migrant workers?

The purpose of the meeting were to discuss on the collaboration between MTUC pertaining to the said ILO project.
The meeting also explored how the project will be able to support MTUC in Labour Law reform and any capacity building activities including collective bargaining.
Mr Hugo mentioned that there are 3 primary area within the project, Labour Law reform, Labour Inspectors system and Labour Dispute system.
ILO will establish the relationship and collaboration with the Ministry together with MTUC and MEF.
Bro J Solomon requested ILO to provide the training on the CBA, matters related to especially reading financial accounts, roundtables discussion to establish a holistic labour law reform suggestions and ILO should have more engagement with MTUC pertaining to matters related to Unions and workers in Malaysia at the regional and national level.
MTUC and the ILO representatives had a cordial meeting and will submit a holistic labour law reforms in two weeks. This will be a future plan for the next two and a half years for the benefit of union leaders and Workers in this country.
